Objectives

The project aimed to empower high school student education in Germany, Türkiye, and Greece to actively engage with climate change and environmental challenges through innovative STEM concepts. Our main goal was to develop new courses to improve students’ digital, scientific, and social competencies via hands-on activities such as air quality monitoring, solar energy workshops, and climate adaptation design. This exchange allowed teachers to test new concepts, explore emerging technologies, and propose real-world solutions for their communities with an eager group of diverse students. While schools supported the process, the focus remained on teacher and student learning, creativity, and international collaboration. The project fostered curiosity, critical thinking, and intercultural understanding, preparing teachers to become proactive contributors of an innovative network.

Background

We applied for this Erasmus+ KA210 project to empower high school student education in Germany, Türkiye, and Spain to engage with climate change through hands-on STEM education and international collaboration. The project addressed the growing demand for skilled professionals in climate-related fields by fostering key competencies via experiential learning. It aligned with Erasmus+ priorities by promoting environmental awareness, digital literacy, and social responsibility. We also aimed to test new concepts to deepen students’ understanding of climate change’s multidisciplinary nature and encourage global dialogue through cultural exchange. Finally, the project laid the foundation for a sustainable network of educators and institutions committed to sharing best practices in climate and STEM education.
