By implementing the project, we wanted to learn from worldwide best practices in upcycling to develop creative and world-leading mentoring programmes; to leverage on design-thinking, to encourage a bottom-up approach to youth entrepreneurship that contributes of European targets and create real opportunities for young people with fewer opportunities to establish youth-led upcycling businesses and youth work across Europe.
We applied for this project to create real opportunities for young people with fewer opportunities to establish youth-led upcycling businesses and youth work across Europe. We have also taken it to heart to contribute to a green environment and fight against climate change as this project has a strong environmental dimension. In this project, we have addressed: - the needs of young people from poorer socioeconomic areas to allow them to promote upcycling, while developing professional skills and provide them all the resources to start upcycling businesses; - the needs of reducing youth unemployment and exclusion; - the needs of youth workers by increasing their capacity not only to promote entrepreneurship among youth, but also to engage with young people from poorer socioeconomic backgrounds and be mentors who are able to provide new opportunities for the personal and professional growth of this target group; - the needs for awareness-raising initiatives in order to create a culture of waste reduction and more sustainable resource use in poorer communities where waste is managed improperly.
