Objectives

The MINDT project aimed to improve the digital inclusion of migrants in Greece and Cyprus by strengthening both the capacity of professionals and the digital skills of migrant communities. First, the project sought to equip professionals, such as educators, NGO staff, and social workers, with practical tools, innovative methods, and culturally sensitive approaches for delivering effective ICT training. Second, it aimed to support migrants in developing essential digital skills needed to access public services, search for jobs, communicate online, and participate more fully in everyday digital life. Through research, training activities, and the creation of comprehensive Digital Guides, the project intended to reduce barriers created by the digital divide and to promote equal access to information, services, and opportunities that are fundamental to integration.

Background

The MINDT project was designed to respond to the growing digital divide affecting migrants in Greece and Cyprus. Many migrants, including asylum seekers and refugees, face significant barriers in accessing online public services, job opportunities, and essential information due to limited digital skills, lack of devices, and unfamiliarity with national digital systems. At the same time, professionals supporting migrants often lack practical tools, structured methods, and culturally sensitive approaches to teach digital skills effectively. These challenges became even more urgent as public services and communication shifted increasingly online. The project addressed these needs by strengthening the digital capacities of both professionals and migrants, promoting equal digital access, and supporting the overall inclusion of migrant communities in an increasingly digital society.
