The DiverSeedPaths project aimed to foster knowledge exchange between migrant communities and European seed networks to strengthen agricultural biodiversity and seed sovereignty. The project had three main objectives: ● Enhance seed-saving capacity by integrating traditional knowledge from migrant communities with local seed networks and Community Seed Banks (CSBs) to promote climate-resilient agriculture. ● Empower farmers, seed guardians, and policy actors through training and capacity-building on EU seed legislation, advocacy strategies, and sustainable seed practices. ● Promote inclusive and participatory learning spaces by organizing intercultural workshops, storytelling events, and policy dialogues, ensuring that diverse voices contribute to the shaping of seed policies and biodiversity conservation efforts.
The DiverSeedPaths project was developed to address the need for knowledge exchange between migrant communities and agricultural biodiversity stakeholders, particularly in the areas of seed conservation, agroecology, and food sovereignty. Migrant communities often bring valuable traditional knowledge on seed saving and cultivation that is underrecognized in European agricultural systems. Simultaneously, European seed networks and farmers face increasing challenges due to climate change, biodiversity loss, and restrictive seed policies, limiting access to diverse and resilient crop varieties. By creating spaces for equitable collaboration, the project aimed to bridge knowledge gaps and strengthen seed-saving practices through participatory workshops, policy training, and community engagement. It also sought to empower migrant communities by recognizing their expertise in agricultural biodiversity management while promoting inclusive, climate-resilient food systems.
