The main objective of the project was to improve the academic proficiency levels of disadvantaged students and reduce the risk factors leading to early school leaving. To achieve this, we aimed to develop an innovative educational model based on the Design Thinking approach. Another key objective was to enhance teachers’ professional skills so that they could effectively apply this methodology in classroom settings. The project also aimed to create a sustainable and transferable teaching model that could be adapted to different educational contexts while promoting active student participation.
The main motivation for applying for this project was the increasing risk of low academic performance and early school leaving among disadvantaged students. Preliminary observations and field experience indicated that these students face significant challenges such as low motivation, limited participation, and insufficient problem-solving skills. In addition, teachers were identified as needing more innovative, student-centered teaching approaches to better support these learners. Therefore, the project was designed to address both student needs and teacher capacity, aiming to improve learning outcomes and promote inclusive education practices.
