Objectives

The ProNousian Argonauts project was designed with the core aim of offering young people with fewer opportunities the chance to discover Europe, while actively engaging in meaningful learning and personal development. Through the implementation of two DiscoverEU Inclusion mobility activities involving a total of 8 participants, all 18years old, from socially or geographically disadvantaged backgrounds—either from urban communities and remote rural areas—to explore new environments, cultures, and European values through a self-managed journey. The main objective of the project was to empower these young people to take ownership of their experience, by involving them in the planning and execution of their travel, while at the same time ensuring strong educational support and structured reflection. The approach was based on non-formal learning principles and aimed at fostering autonomy, active participation, and self-confidence. In parallel with the travel experience, the project aimed to open space for dialogue and reflection around three key thematic areas: Inclusion and Diversity, the Digital and Green Transition, and Youth Participation in Democratic Life. These themes were introduced during the preparatory phase and revisited throughout the mobilities using tools such as group discussions, thematic visits, and daily reflection exercises. Participants were encouraged to connect these European priorities with their own realities and experiences during the journey. Ultimately, the project sought to contribute to the broader goals of the Erasmus+ DiscoverEU Inclusion Action by making youth mobility accessible, relevant, and transformative for the participated groups. It succeeded in combining personal discovery with experiential education, promoting a deeper sense of belonging to the European community and strengthening the capacity of the coordinating organization to continue delivering impactful youth work initiatives.
