Objectives

This project aimed to transform the perception of fashion among younger generations, combating habits associated with fast fashion and its high environmental impact worldwide. Through a combination of ongoing strategic management and five transnational learning, teaching and training activities, the project sought to raise awareness among students and educators about the environmental consequences of the textile industry and encourage more responsible consumption. It also aimed to develop ecological and creative skills related to recycling, eco-design and green entrepreneurship, promoting critical thinking and innovation. The project also aspired to create a European network of educational centres committed to sustainability, capable of influencing their communities and their own institutional policies. Overall, the aim was to train young people to become influential in their environment, aware, active and committed, ready to act as agents of change and advocates for a more sustainable future.

Background

The project arises in response to the urgent need to address the environmental impacts of the textile and fashion industry by promoting a profound transformation of young people’s consumption habits. Its main objective is to act as a catalyst for change towards more sustainable fashion, encouraging responsible consumption and waste management practices, and drawing inspiration from initiatives such as that of the French government, which rewards repair over disposable consumption. The project addresses the lack of ecological awareness and green skills among young people by integrating knowledge of eco-design and sustainability. It also prepares students to actively participate in the energy transition and to assume leadership roles in advocating for environmental policies. In addition, it responds to the specific needs of partner organizations in different countries, adapting to their educational, social, and labor contexts. Furthermore, it encourages schools to influence their own internal policies in order to adopt more sustainable models. Overall, the project understands sustainability as an essential necessity and a way of life for the future.
