The MAKE project aimed to empower students and teachers to understand, experience, and act against climate change through collaborative European learning. Its main goal was to translate environmental knowledge into real-life behaviors by creating sustainable school environments and motivating students to adopt eco-friendly habits. The project sought to improve participants’ understanding of sustainability, renewable energy, carbon footprint reduction, and responsible consumption. It aimed to strengthen key competences such as teamwork, critical thinking, ICT, and foreign language skills through hands-on, interdisciplinary activities. Establishing three Green Clubs—Energy Efficiency, RRR (Recycle, Reduce, Reuse), and Consuming Habits—was central to ensuring active engagement and inclusion of all students, including those with fewer opportunities. The partnership also aimed to develop teaching resources such as a Teachers’ Manual, e-Green Booklets, and virtual simulations to support long-term educational use. Overall, the project intended to foster climate awareness, European cooperation, and lasting behavioral change within school communities.
The MAKE project was developed to address the growing educational need to prepare students to understand and act against climate change. Partners identified through surveys that 76% of students and parents wished schools to adopt greener practices and provide more opportunities for environmental learning. Despite existing curriculum content, activities were fragmented and lacked a holistic European dimension. Teachers required new pedagogical tools to integrate sustainability, and students needed structured opportunities to participate actively in environmental actions. The project responded to these needs by establishing Green Clubs and developing inclusive activities linking science, ICT, and citizenship. Through transnational cooperation, partners aimed to enhance environmental awareness, promote behavioral change and empower the whole school community. The project also supported the EU Green Deal objectives by fostering green skills, energy efficiency awareness, and responsible consumption habits among young people, ensuring lasting impact on partner institutions and their local communities.
