oncordia Auvergne, through local partnerships with various youth organizations (associations, municipal or rural social centers, etc.), works daily with young people, particularly those with fewer opportunities, informing them about the engagement initiatives and mobility programs available to them, particularly within the framework of the European Union's youth policy. Although young people are interested in mobility and fully aware of the benefits of this type of enriching experience, both personally and professionally, we find that few of them actually go through with it due to various obstacles and personal circumstances, particularly related to economic, cultural, social, or geographical constraints. Young people also cite reasons related to a feeling of insecurity or fear on their part or that of their families about embarking on a new mobility experience independently and on their own. As a result, these young people remain stuck in their own context, failing to develop their knowledge and seize all the opportunities available to them. With the launch of the new Discover EU Inclusion program in 2023, Concordia Auvergne saw opportunities to develop mobility projects for young people with fewer opportunities who benefit little from existing schemes, so that they can enjoy mobility experiences in small groups with people they trust completely and feel safe with (friends, other young people from the neighborhood), either independently or accompanied by a Concordia chaperone or someone from an identified organization. This program makes mobility trips possible and helps remove many of the obstacles these young people face, allowing them to carry out a project focused on interculturality and citizenship through a journey of discovery in one or more European countries. Through this project of sharing and discovery, Concordia Auvergne aims to motivate young people who wish to enrich their knowledge and skills to co-construct a project to discover Europe, by offering them support at every stage of the project, acting as a liaison with organizations and mentors, and providing support based on listening to their needs and fears. We hope to stimulate their engagement, encourage them to break out of their routine, and overcome any obstacles that hinder their initiatives. The project also aims to raise awareness of how the Erasmus+ program itself strives to offer young people opportunities that help them break down these same barriers, give them their first experience abroad, encourage their active participation, provide them with their first intercultural contact, understand European values and the historical, social, and cultural heritage that binds us together, and feel like active citizens and leaders of their own choices. The project also aims to encourage these young people to participate in other engagement programs and become mobility ambassadors who, by sharing their experiences, can in turn inspire other local young people to get involved in mobility programs.
