The primary objective was to develop the 21st-century digital and technological competencies of students and educators, focusing on the ethical application of AI and the practical integration of 3D printing. We aimed for the measurable development of participants' IT skills and algorithmic thinking through project-based learning. Specific outputs included the design, construction, and online documentation of AI-controlled robotic prototypes. A strategic goal was to institutionalize the Debrecen–Csíkszereda–Ada partnership, adapting dual training practices from Romania, Serbia, and Hungary. The project promoted environmental awareness through sustainable additive manufacturing. The use of Hungarian as a shared mother tongue facilitated the deepening of specific professional terminology throughout the cross-border cooperation. Our long-term goal was to train competitive young specialists with international expertise who can actively contribute to the economic development of their regions.
The advancement of IT and Artificial Intelligence (AI) is significantly reshaping labor market competency expectations, requiring a proactive response from vocational education (VET). Based on our institutional analysis and feedback from dual partners, we identified that students' digital problem-solving skills, the practical application of 3D design, and the conscious use of AI tools require development. Special focus was placed on disadvantaged students with lower entry-level competencies. The project aimed to bridge these gaps through project-based, practice-oriented methodologies and measurable learning outcomes. This development directly prepares students for the technological requirements of Industry 4.0 and the modern work environment. Strengthening structured professional cooperation among cross-border Hungarian VET institutions was also a key need. Within the Debrecen–Csíkszereda–Ada partnership, joint training content development, the exchange of best practices, and the institutional integration of innovative pedagogical methods served long-term quality improvement and regional competitiveness.
