We wanted the participant to hone their existing knowledge on fungi and also experience applying mycological principles with the guidance of experienced practitioners. The participant was tasked with learning as much as possible about this area, taking note of what was previously unknown to them, and considering how to apply the principles and approach on her return to Ireland.
Síolta Chroí main mission is to restore ecosystems. This we believe is the key to meeting many of the environmental issues we face including climate change. Fungi is a key and often missing element in this conversation. As there is a need for more fungi focused ecosystem regeneration projects in Ireland this project organised for one suitable individual to job-shadow fungi experts in Greece, and partake in a variety of activities and discussions related to applied mycology.
