Objectives

The key achievement of this project was to engage young people and over 200 young people took part in the events throughout the project. We connected these young people to EU participatory processes through the EU Youth Dialogue, doing a consultation and implementation event and in the EU Year of Skills, through a Youth Skills Fest event. The project was youth led and the young voices core group who we met with regularly in person and online gained an awareness of the skills they developed through their engagement in volunteering and youth work, including in taking part in this project. We increased the awareness for and unlocked the potential of young people’s hidden skills developed through their participation in youth work for all the young people who engaged in the youth skills fest. Objectives Provided young people with a learning and skills development opportunity. Included a diverse voice and young people with fewer opportunities in the European Year of Skills and the EU Youth Dialogue process. Through a Youth Skills Fest, bringing young people and employers together we raised young people’s awareness of their soft skills gained through non-formal education. Also, an increased awareness of the value of those skills in employment and the future of work, particularly for young people with fewer opportunities, strengthening their sense of belonging to society. We promoted the value of non-formal and informal learning through youth work and volunteering within the youth work sector and with young people and also outside of the youth work sector, through industry. We demonstrated how youth work helps develop skills which create alternative pathways to inclusion of young people.
