Objectives

The project aimed to equip young people (18-25) from disadvantaged backgrounds with essential financial literacy skills to improve their employability. It also sought to enhance VET and C-VET teachers' digital and emotional intelligence competencies to effectively teach financial education. Additionally, it promoted environmental awareness among VET teachers. By addressing these areas, the project aligned with labor market needs, ensuring that young people acquired crucial skills such as budgeting and expense management. It also fostered inclusion by targeting individuals who faced socio-economic barriers and learning difficulties. The digital transformation priority was integrated by providing teachers with updated digital skills and leveraging digital tools for financial education. The project delivered concrete outcomes, including a financial literacy toolkit, social media micro-learning content, training sessions, and dissemination activities, ensuring broad impact and sustainability.

Background

We applied for this project to address the financial literacy gap among young people (18-25) from disadvantaged backgrounds, aiming to improve their employability. Reports indicate a strong interest in financial education among Gen-Z youth but also a lack of knowledge, particularly among those whose families cannot support them in acquiring financial skills. Despite the availability of financial education tools, young people perceive them as inaccessible or not tailored to their needs. This knowledge gap creates anxiety and stress, especially when entering the job market, where financial management skills are essential. The project integrates Emotional Intelligence to help young people regulate negative emotions associated with financial topics, making learning more accessible and reducing their sense of inadequacy. Additionally, it provides VET and C-VET educators with digital skills and innovative teaching methods to better engage young learners. By enhancing financial literacy and employability, this initiative seeked to break socio-economic barriers and foster inclusion.
