Objectives

The RISE project aimed to offer students an in-depth path on the principles of the circular economy and on the professional opportunities related to the green transition. To achieve this goal, an e-learning curriculum has been developed, designed to ensure flexible and engaging learning. Online lessons, enriched with constantly updated content, allowed students to acquire important and necessary skills needed to tackle the challenges of the green sector and understand their role in ecological transformation. In addition to theoretical training, RISE aimed to stimulate an active dialogue on sustainability within educational institutions, encouraging discussion with industry experts and innovative startups. Thanks to the creation of videos and lessons in collaboration with scientists and CEOs of companies involved in the ecological transition, the project offered students concrete examples of sustainable production and consumption models, making learning more practical and inspirational. Finally, RISE aimed to train aware and responsible citizens, capable of integrating sustainable practices into their daily lives and spreading a culture of sustainability.

Background

Transitioning to a sustainable economy is a top priority for the European Union, as evidenced by the European Green Deal. However, achieving climate neutrality by 2050 will require empowering future generations with the specialized skills and knowledge needed in environmental and circular economy sectors so they can act in a responsible and sustainable manner. The RISE project was born from the need to bridge the gap between current skills taught at school and the demands of the labor market related to the green transition. Many schools expressed the need for innovative teaching tools, capable of actively involving students in environmental issues and emerging professional opportunities. At the same time, it was important to create opportunities for dialogue between students, teachers and professionals in the sector to make these issues more concrete and applicable to the working reality. Therefore RISE main purpose was to respond to this need by providing practical educational materials related to environmental and green skills, stimulating students' critical thinking and promoting their active participation in sustainability projects.
