In recent times the world has experienced increasingly frequent disasters due to the effects of climate change, with severe droughts, floods and extreme weather reported regularly across different countries. It is essential to raise awareness, especially among young people, about the urgency of this problem and to teach them ways to prevent and combat its effects. The main objective of this project was to combat climate change within schools and to empower students to transfer and apply the knowledge gained beyond the classroom. We aimed to help students understand how climate change has impacted different European regions, choosing partner countries that represent diverse environmental challenges. Throughout the project, we analysed and compared the effects of climate change in each partner country. We then implemented strategies in schools to minimize its impacts, focusing on sustainable practices such as the conscious and efficient use of energy, exploring renewable energy solutions, promoting responsible food production methods that are less harmful to the planet. We also addressed issues such as the rise in sea temperatures and water scarcity, encouraging students to adopt behaviours that conserve water and protect resources
We applied for this project because climate change is one of the greatest challenges of our time, with increasing extreme events such as floods, droughts wildfires and pollution that threaten our environment and future generations. Many global agreements have failed to produce sufficient action, and we believe education is key to change attitudes and behaviours. Our schools recognise that traditional teaching must go beyond academic subjects to foster environmental responsibility and civic engagement. Despite existing activities in sustainability and renewable energy by partner organisations, we found that young people, families and local communities still lack climate awareness and the skills to act sustainably. This project addresses these needs by involving learners from four European countries in collaborative activities that build climate literacy, critical thinking and active citizenship. By creating opportunities for students, teachers and communities to engage in environmental protection, we aim to empower participants to adopt sustainable lifestyles and inspire others to take action.Through cross-border collaboration, we expect to strengthen competencies, raise awareness and contribute to a culture of environmental care.
