Objectives

We aimed to help students understand and practice EU values, promote social inclusion and encourage eco-friendly behavior. Each school focused on a thematic area:environment, democracy or inclusion, sharing experiences to inspire responsibility and respect across borders. We also wanted to develop transversal skills, strengthen collaboration between schools and create a sense of shared European identity together with empowering students to act as active citizens.

Background

We applied to give students a real experience of European values in action and encourage active participation in democratic and social life. Inspired by Ursula von der Leyen’s call for youth involvement in shaping Europe’s future, we wanted to engage students in civic, cultural and environmental issues, strengthen their sense of belonging to the EU, and promote intercultural understanding, solidarity and collaboration across our partner schools. The project addressed the need to involve young people in meaningful civic and social activities, while raising awareness of inclusion, diversity, and sustainability. Many students had limited opportunities to experience intercultural collaboration, participate in decision-making,or explore EU values practically. It also supported students with fewer opportunities, helping them develop social, emotional, digital and critical-thinking skills and fostering respect for human rights and cultural diversity.
