Objectives

Through our project implementation, we made participants aware of the importance of environmental preservation and the negative impact of climate change. Cooperation between schools and association provided a lifelong learning. Thanks to our project we worked hand in hand to fight climate change and protect the environment. Since education plays a crucial role in this transformation, providing the participants with knowledge and practical skills helped them understand the importance of sustainability to actively contribute to it. The objectives reached have been: 1) Promoting Environmental Literacy; 2) Encouraging the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse and Recycle); 3) Fostering Global Awareness; 4) Implementing Sustainable Practices; 5) Developing key competencies.

Background

The main imperative for the 4 institutions went beyond conventional teaching methods. Their shared need was to embrace creative and reflective approaches that resonate profoundly with students. Climate change is a crucial contemporary issue, that impactis our daily lives. For this reason, we needed accessible information and skills acquirement on the subject, in order to guide the ebneficiaries towards a green and sustainable world, to enrich the current schools' curricula and create new alternative teaching methods to empower a broader student base. By introducing new teaching methods and improving ICT tools and English competence, the project anticipated an enhancement in the school achievements of students. Students involved in project-based learnt to exhibit a more positive attitude toward their educational journey. The impact extended to institutional leadership, fostering a conducive environment for allocating resources to “green” approaches within the formal school curriculum.
