The implementation of the project aimed to achieve interconnected objectives: on the educational level, to enrich students’ knowledge of climate change and the use of water resources; through transnational cooperation, to share problems and solutions across different climatic, geographic, and socio-political contexts, characterized by heterogeneous impacts. The project’s goals also included social and inclusive aspects: hands-on laboratories and experiential methodologies encouraged the active participation of students at risk or with fewer opportunities, transforming learning into active citizenship. Students were encouraged to promote sustainable actions within their families and communities, while gaining awareness of governmental measures to address critical situations caused by the impacts of climate change, such as droughts, extreme events, hydrogeological instability, and alterations in aquatic biodiversity. Finally, the international dimension fostered personal and professional relationships among teachers and the creation of a stable network between partner schools, which is essential for continuing transnational cooperation.
The three partner schools shared the urgency of adopting a thorough and comprehensive approach to the themes of responsible water management and environmental sustainability, in light of the long-standing climate changes. Developed at a transnational level over a two-year period, the project addressed multiple needs in a comprehensive and in-depth manner, aiming for an integrated understanding of our planet’s balance and how it is influenced by human behaviors and actions. The project responded to the need to educate responsible students who are aware of the importance of sustainable use of the planet’s resources at personal, family, school, and social levels; it enabled transnational exchanges on concrete actions adopted by policymakers and environmental protection stakeholders to safeguard water and ecosystems; it provided students with practical knowledge, scientific and digital skills through hands-on experiences and laboratories promoting inclusion and active participation. The project fostered the exchange of good practices and professional growth among teachers and offered local and educational communities an international perspective for lasting impact.
