Objectives

In school programmes in the natural sciences (biology, chemistry, physics, environmental science, geography), theory (knowledge and understanding), practice (general and research skills), and their mutual interaction are of essential importance. It is important to offer learners opportunities to understand and use characteristic concepts and relationships by explaining system structures and processes, arguing and reasoning, using models, and carrying out complex research on known and unknown topics encountered in personal, social, educational, or work-related contexts. Not only knowledge and facts, concepts and terminology must be acquired, but learners must also be able to identify connections, explain and justify phenomena and processes, argue and reason, critically evaluate information, and develop habits (such as waste sorting, saving energy resources, creating a zero-waste household, using healthy food, critically assessing available offers, and identifying cause-and-effect relationships in natural processes), as well as propose complex problem-solving solutions. The completion of practical tasks are ways to demonstrate the link between learning content and skill development,as well as the application of skills in various situation

Background

The aim of the project is to foster interest, knowledge, and the development of skills and habits in order to build understanding of sustainability, a green lifestyle, and green thinking among learners. By involving learners from several countries, the project seeks to develop a shared understanding of the causes, impacts, and processes of environmental and climate change, promoting knowledge acquisition, the formation of a value system, and awareness of the interaction between humans and nature. The project supports social and civic responsibility for one’s own behaviour in relation to natural and environmental resources, encourages reflection and/or changes in habits to act responsibly towards nature, ecology, the environment, the immediate or wider surroundings, and resources, and promotes thinking about cause-and-effect relationships in the interaction and coexistence of nature and human actions. As a result, participants will deepen their understanding and knowledge of specific actions through which everyone can cooperate, integrate into a clean environment, and become involved in the identification and resolution of environmental and ecological problems. Informational and educational materials will serve as guides for everyone.
