According to Eurostat data, we found that in 2022, 13.1% of 15-29 years old in the EU were classified as NEETs. Young people who have not been employed, studying or in training are known as NEETs (Not in Employment, Education or Training). This group has been considered one of the most vulnerable in society, as they lack the means to become independent and the chance to develop their skills for better job prospects. Often, a lack of knowledge and a negative mindset contribute to their situation and reduce their opportunities to secure stable employment. Long-term inactivity in the job market could lead to mental health issues among these young people. Unfortunately, the COVID pandemic had a particularly negative impact on this group, as young unemployment rates skyrocketed and pandemic restrictions exacerbated their feelings of isolation and abandonment. Organizations and public bodies are failing to provide sufficient support to NEETs to help them overcome their situation. The " A.C.T.I.V.E." project was designed to equip a group of Youth Workers (YW) from seven partner organisations with entrepreneurship skills to create activities that promote the empowerment of NEETs. The project aims to provide YW with specific skills and abilities in entrepreneurship, so they would help NEETs in their respective countries. Youth Workers shared the knowledge they gained during the project with NEETs in their local communities. It enabled them to positively contribute to the inclusion of NEETs in society and the job market, which had a positive impact on their lives. The project focused on two main needs: the needs of Youth Workers within associations to incorporate young NEETs into the labour market and the needs of NEETs in the partners' local communities who currently have limited employment opportunities. The main objective of the project was to increase the skills and competencies of Youth Workers with the aim to increase entrepreneurship knowledge among young people and NEETs. It encouraged their involvement in the labour market and sense of initiative to realise their potential. The primary target audience for the project was Youth Workers (YW), who regularly interacted. With young NEETs and young people seeking career development opportunities, the beneficiaries of the project were young NEETs of the areas of the partners. The specific objectives of the project were: 1) To increase skills and competencies of the YW to establish entrepreneurial mentorship programs for young people. 2) To promote a vibrant entrepreneurial attitude among NEETs. 3) To promote NEETs' social integration in the community. The Project provided the following solutions to address the stated needs: a) Improving communication and language abilities of the participants. b) Developing entrepreneurial competencies within Youth Workers (YW) to empower NEETs in local communities. This included enhancing their perception, innovation, creative thinking, consciousness, determination, strategy, leadership, risk assessment and problem-solving abilities. c) Promoting entrepreneurial mindsets and strategic approaches by providing knowledge and best practices. Overall, the project equipped Youth Workers with the competencies and techniques required to establish entrepreneurial mentorship programs for young people, empowered NEETs with entrepreneurship skills and promoted their active engagement in the labour market.
