Objectives

Our objectives for this project are to: (i) engage gender experts and practitioners to co-create a women-centric design methodology (ii) publish an impactful, applicable and accessible women-centric design toolkit and resource (iii) create community-based learning opportunities for women design practitioners from minoritised backgrounds

Background

Women continue to live in and navigate a one-size-fits-men. With the growing awareness of our one-size-fits-men world, awareness of inclusive design is also on the rise. But, often inclusive design is stuck in the “why” conversation, which leads design practitioners to experience the intention-action gap: they want to apply inclusive design, but they don’t know how and/or they are stuck making the business case to their organizations. In this project, we shifted to the how. With our in-depth tools and frameworks created by doing research with gender practitioners around the world, our project was able to provide design practitioners with a toolkit to evaluate and design products, services and systems with a women-centric lens.
