Bridging intercultural, intergenerational and social dividePreventing racism and discriminationReception and integration of refugees and migrants

Objectives

Today, there is an unprecedented migration in history. Due to reasons such as wars, polarizations, globalization, economic troubles, the ever-increasing world population, and lack of resources, people seek a better life and migrate. As a result of this migration that has been going on for many years, people of different races and ethnicities live together. This difference sometimes leads to negativities such as the exclusion of the minority. As a result, a problem of racism arises from ethnic differences. Racism used to be known as biological superiority, the notion of being biologically different. After it was seen that this was not true, a new era of racism emerged. An idea of racism has developed, in which discrimination is ensured as having a different ethnic origin. This situation has led to the rise of xenophobia, known as hostility towards these people from different cultures, and cultural racism, which is the new form of racism. This xenophobia, on the other hand, is directed towards immigrants, refugees, or non-native later arrivals who are outside the dominant group, which are also considered as the objects of the new racism. Therefore, xenophobia also feeds on ethnocentrism, while the indigenous culture is regarded as superior and modern advanced, the cultures of individuals who are considered "other" foreigners are humiliated and despised. The hate speech produced by the majority is used as a tool for their electoral success, and this situation increases the anger, opposition, and hate crimes against immigrants day by day, making them the subject of new racism. According to Hanneke Felten in the Netherlands, an individual with an Arabic surname is less likely to win in elections or to be employed than other individuals. In the Netherlands, a combat team called KIS was established and research was conducted against this racism. Today, racism and xenophobia are social diseases that shake the foundations of the European integration project and necessitate an effective struggle. Racism, which means the violation of human rights, affects people's social life as a sick thought. In this project, it was aimed to increase the social and political awareness of the problem at the EU level. In order to realize this aim, the institutional experiences of the partner institutions were benefited, the existing practices were brought together, and the number of innovative methods and methods that were used by youth were increased. In the light of this, throughout the project; 1- Young people were taught how to prevent racism and discrimination in partner countries. 2- In order to reduce social, political, and economic problems arising from racism and discrimination, young people were made aware of taking initiative and adopting an egalitarian approach in unity and solidarity. 3- The extent of the harm caused by racism and discrimination to humanity was shown to young people and local people, and awareness were raised that everyone is equal. 4- Young people were made aware that no race is superior to the other, and they got freed from their prejudices. The prevalence of racism and discrimination, especially in Europe, is due to the fact that Europe is home to people from a wide variety of ethnic backgrounds. There is a polarization among people with the bad discourse and hatred that racism brings. These situations, which are also considered as integration crises or intercultural conflicts, also accelerate the rise of populist far-right parties, tendencies, and radical organizations that are especially directed towards immigrants and their cultural values for reasons such as "stopping this deterioration" and "preserving national identity". The hate speech of the majority is used as a tool for their electoral success, and this situation increases the anger, opposition, and hate crimes against immigrants day by day, making them the subject of new racism. As a result, it is common for those who are minorities to encounter negativities in social and business life, even though it is against humanity. This causes the minority, that is, exposed to racism, to see an unhappy and hopeless future. With this project, racial discrimination decreased, and an egalitarian world without discrimination in education, health, business world, and social services was ensured.
