Objectives

Creative Crossroads is a project for youngsters with fewer opportunities, aimed to increase their social inclusion, active participation, and mental health, using expressive arts as the main tools. Through this project, we created a safe and playful environment where youth from vulnerable backgrounds could explore various forms of self-expression, connect with others, learn, and grow by engaging with arts in different forms such as movement, painting, drawing, writing, and music. Living in times where technology is rapidly advancing its integration into the daily lives of youth and following the challenges of a global pandemic faced by the young generation, we find it crucial to create programs and projects where young people from different cultures and backgrounds come together. Through this project, youngsters met with their peers, learned from one another, co-created activities together, and built meaningful memories. Our focus is on increasing social inclusion and the feeling of belonging of youngsters from marginalized backgrounds while practicing and exploring tools that nurture mental health and wellbeing. Through expressive arts, participants discovered a unique language that supported them to overcome cultural barriers and create an inclusive environment, contributing to a more cohesive Europe. The main objectives of the project: • To bring 10 Group Leaders and 10 participants in an APV to prepare the Youth Exchange from all aspects (Logistics, Content, Activities, etc.) • To bring together 40 Youngsters with fewer opportunities and 10 GL to share best practices while developing and being part of art-related activities • To increase a sense of community and belonging while promoting and encouraging social interaction, through actively taking part in an international group where they do various activities, living together taking care of a space organizing and implementing activities • Creating an environment for self-expression and critical thinking in ways that they may not have been able to do so in other contexts by tackling individual or collective problems through artistic means as a personal or group process • To increase communication and cooperation skills in a space where they feel safe to express themselves creatively, build confidence, and develop their self-esteem • To break down barriers, prejudices, and stereotypes, and foster intercultural dialogue, and understanding of different cultures, diversity, and other perspectives, while living and working together in a group, using artistic practices as a tool while actively taking part in reflection sessions • To enhance the learning experience and promote creativity, critical thinking, and self-expression by incorporating expressive arts activities • To provide the opportunity for the youngsters to create and disseminate several products to spread the project results and outcomes, this includes an interactive Flashmob that includes all forms of expressive arts, developing and implementing an activity in their local communities, testimonials, social media updates, and promotion on the websites of the partners. • To ensure that the evaluation of the learning happens throughout the project through 50 Youth Passes and 50 questionnaires.
