Objectives

The primary objective of the "Leverage New Trends in Youth Work" project was to enhance the capacity of youth work and youth organizations, specifically focusing on upcycling, gamification, and recreation. The project aimed to introduce practical recreational activities into youth work through a training course held in Istanbul, Turkey, from 28 October to 06 November , 2023. The intention was to improve the knowledge, experience, and skills of youth workers, emphasizing innovative and sustainable practices within the field of youth work. The project was meticulously designed for 41 participants, comprising 35 youth workers, 3 trainers, and 3 facilatitors, representing six different countries: Netherlands, Turkey, Romania, Bulgaria, Albania, Greece, and Macedonia. The activities of the project actively incorporated non-formal and informal learning methods to impart new concepts of gamification and gaming to both direct and indirect participants. Additionally, the project diversified its activities with a focus on youth work, advocating for nature-friendly thinking in the design of youth work, and creating environmental and outdoor recreational activities adaptable to the needs of young people. Beyond the enhancement of youth work and organizational capacity, the "Leverage New Trends in Youth Work" project encompassed several other objectives. These included augmenting the institutional capacity of youth organizations, supporting the professional, social, and personal development of youth workers, and instilling a creative work mentality and method in youth work. The project also aimed to disseminate best practices for sustainable environmental youth work, generate new project ideas with youth workers to encourage efficient and productive use of young people's time, and support youth policies through the development of innovative methods. Strategies were also sought for disadvantaged youth to benefit from youth work, along with raising awareness about the opportunities presented by Erasmus+ and ESC projects for young people to ensure their active participation. The "Leverage New Trends in Youth Work" project sought to provide a platform for youth workers to enhance their knowledge, experience, and skills. The goal was to empower them to design and implement innovative and sustainable practices within the realm of youth work. Through the dissemination of project results, the initiative aimed to promote the effective use of non-formal and informal learning methods, thereby contributing to the development of youth policies on international, national, and local levels.
