The goal of the "Through the Colours of the Oppressed" project was to equip youth workers part of our 11 partner organizations with effective tools and methods to support marginalized young people, especially those facing social exclusion or having fewer opportunities in life. We introduced the Theatre of the Oppressed methodologies to empower youth workers with new artistic and pedagogical skill and support them to better engage these young people in society, promote their active participation as democratic citizens, and increase their personal development. Consortium members are working directly with young people from rural areas, Roma communities, refugees, economically disadvantaged groups, NEET, the LGBTQIA+ community, minorities, etc. They are aware of the complexity of issues that the youth generation in present times are facing and also were willing and eager to expand their working methodology, especially in relation to vulnerable young people. Through this project, we aimed to provide youth workers and youth organizations with a deeper understanding of Theatre of the Oppressed methodology, to facilitate a safe, inclusive and creative space for young people to express themselves, address their challenges and become more active members of their communities. We aimed to contribute to social inclusion, encourage personal growth, and strengthen the capacity of youth organizations to make a meaningful impact on the lives of vulnerable youth in their local communities through local initiatives. The main objectives of the project were: - Introduce Theatre of the Oppressed (ToO) as a methodology to youth workers, focusing on its potential to address social, artistic, and pedagogical challenges for young people at risk of exclusion. - Equip youth workers and youth organizations with the knowledge, skills, and competencies needed to design and implement ToO methodologies in their work with marginalized young people. The goal was to support these young people transition into adulthood and become more engaged in civic life. - Support the professional development of youth workers working with marginalized groups, enhancing their ability to address the specific needs of young people facing challenges such as isolation, exclusion, and mental health issues. - Increase the capacity of partner organizations to operate at the European level and engage in international projects that target vulnerable youth populations, supporting them to drive meaningful social change. - Improve the quality of youth organizations' projects under the Erasmus+ program, ensuring that their initiatives have a lasting impact on young people from marginalized backgrounds. - Create practical tools by applying the knowledge gained through the project. This included developing and facilitating 11 local workshops (one per partner organization) that directly impacted youth from minority and disadvantaged backgrounds. - Develop a Booklet that outlines the ToO methodology, including the workshops created and tested during the project. This resource was shared on social media and with youth organizations, spreading the knowledge to a wider audience. - Initiate an international network of youth organizations focused on social inclusion, using Theatre of the Oppressed and other artistic methods to empower and include young people from disadvantaged backgrounds.
