The theme of European culture and cultural heritage inspired a group of young female initiators, passionate about culture, art, film production, and new media, to create an initiative that would include young people with fewer opportunities — giving them the chance to participate in culture, travel, open up to the world, and develop essential life skills. Through this initiative, young participants had the opportunity to explore Europe’s cultural heritage, which provided them with the tools and means to express their own views, be heard, and reach a wide audience. Moreover, during the activities, participants were able to explore their own values and perspectives through contact with other cultures and languages, as well as take steps toward independence in important aspects of life (such as financial management) and discover their strengths through planning and undertaking a journey into the unknown. Objectives of the “Focus on Culture” project defined by the youth: - to broaden knowledge related to culture and European cultural heritage recognized by UNESCO, - to increase intercultural awareness, - to expand knowledge related to digital creativity, - to discover one’s own passions and interests, - to foster self-knowledge and self-realization, - to sensitize European citizens to their own cultural heritage.
