Objectives

The "Astrotrip - in the footsteps of Johannes Kepler" project fits perfectly into the regular activity of the Antares Foundation. It responds to the need for the development of a young organization. In 2024, we will be celebrating the 420th anniversary of appearing the most recent supernova in the Milky Way – SN 1604, known also as “the Kepler’s Star”. The project was created by astronomy students, young people associated with the applicant organization. Therefore, it responds to their need for development and gaining experience. Each educational trip will be attended by two people from the project team. They are going to support the participants' learning process and help with logistics. Assigning such responsible roles to young people will have a positive impact on their self-confidence, activity in social activities, entrepreneurship and leadership skills. The target group - young people with fewer opportunities – will be recruited using the database of students and schools enrolled in the National-wide Astronomical Contest "Astrolabe". In this way, we will strengthen the impact of our other activity and we will be able to recruit a group of young people with fewer opportunities interested in astronomy. Even in today's world of digital information young people from smaller towns have to overcome the information barrier to take advantage of the free educational offer in an intercultural context. They often have worse access to extracurricular educational and cultural offers. The project aims to eliminate the geographical barriers that are often associated with economic problems. The "Astrotrip - in the footsteps of Johannes Kepler" project aims to strengthen interest in astronomy among young people with fewer opportunities. The project responds to their need to discover the world and develop their own interests. Through diverse educational, cultural and linguistic activities, we want to give these young people a chance to try something new and change their attitude to travel.
