The aim of the project was to promote museums as modern learning environments and to increase students’ interest in STEM education by implementing innovative methods that combine STEM, CLIL and non‑formal learning. The project focused on developing the linguistic, digital and social competences of both students and teachers, while also supporting intercultural integration, democratic values, and preventing prejudice, stereotypes and social exclusion. An important component was also strengthening international cooperation between partner institutions and creating educational materials and tools for disseminating the project’s results. One of the key objectives was the effective implementation of the CURATOR TOUCH DO methodology, enabling students to explore STEM topics through hands‑on museum research, interactions with curators and peer collaboration. The project also promoted sustainable, environmentally friendly educational practices by replacing traditional paper‑based materials with digital products such as e‑books and virtual exhibitions. Additionally, it aimed to enhance students’ cultural awareness and adaptability through immersive international cooperation and family‑hosted accommodation.
The idea for the project emerged from the need to move away from traditional forms of teaching towards innovative Out-of-School Learning Environments (OSLE), particularly through the use of museum resources available in the partner countries. The project combined STEM education with the CLIL approach, enabling students to develop scientific, digital and language competences simultaneously. An important element was also the strengthening of intercultural understanding, overcoming prejudices and providing young people with direct, meaningful contact with the cultural diversity of Europe and Asia. “STEM IN THE MUSEUM” addressed the educational and social needs of partners from Poland, Romania, Türkiye and Belgium, who observed that many young people – especially those with fewer opportunities – have limited access to modern STEM methodologies, non-formal education and international experiences. The project therefore created a space for students to develop their talents, broaden their horizons and learn through international cooperation and contact with European and Asian cultural heritage.
