By implementing the project “Our Future in One Water Drop”, we aimed to develop students’ environmental awareness and their sense of responsibility towards water-related challenges – one of the most vital resources for life on Earth. Our goal was to show young people that even small, everyday actions can make a real difference in protecting the environment and shaping the future of our planet. We also wanted to enhance key competences such as teamwork, foreign language communication, critical thinking, creativity, and the ability to learn independently. Through cooperation in an international environment, students learned to work across borders, appreciate cultural diversity, and respect others. The project was also designed to create opportunities for creative expression through artistic, literary, and scientific activities. We wanted participants not only to gain knowledge, but also to become ambassadors of change – inspiring others to take responsibility for the environment.
We applied for the project “Our Future in One Water Drop” because we wanted to raise awareness among students about one of the most urgent global challenges – the protection and sustainable use of water resources. We noticed that young people often take access to clean water for granted and are not fully aware of the environmental, social, and economic consequences of water pollution and climate change. The project responded to the need for environmental education, the development of ecological responsibility, and active citizenship among students. It also aimed to strengthen cooperation between schools from different countries, giving participants the opportunity to exchange ideas, share good practices, and develop key competences such as communication in foreign languages, teamwork, and digital creativity. Through interdisciplinary activities combining science, art, and social engagement, we sought to inspire students to take action in their own communities and to understand that protecting water means protecting our common future.
