Objectives

The project had several objectives. First, we aimed to reduce prejudice and promote tolerance by encouraging students to engage in discussions, brainstorming sessions, and exchange visits with partner countries. Second, we aim to provide learning environments where the problems arising from the disadvantages of our disadvantaged students, who are the main target group of our project, are minimized. For this reason, we have determined the other priority of our project as "Inclusion and diversity". Third, transnational and virtual mobility and local activities of our project are designed to enable our pupils to understand the relationship between the target achievements and the outside world surrounding them in the courses that include the STEAM approach. We also wanted to connect students with their international peers, allowing them to share their cultural and traditional values. This helped improve their social and language skills, boosted their motivation, and built self-confidence. Another key goal is to strengthen digital literacy by encouraging the use of ICT tools. The project also supported the development of communication skills for both students and teachers. Teachers had the opportunity to deepen their English skills.

Background

We submitted this project motivated by the belief that it offers great value for our students to connect with peers from different countries and cultures. We strongly believe that learning about one another fosters greater understanding and empathy. One of our key goals is to enhance students' motivation to improve their English language skills, as well as to highlight the importance of intercultural knowledge. We also want to increase the academic success of our students, active participation of our students in classroom activities, and problem-solving skills based on cause-and-effect relationships. Another important aspect was to ensure that the students, who are at risk of being pushed out of society due to their disadvantages, develop a sense of belonging and integrate into the society they live in. Engaging in meaningful experiences, students not only discovered new cultures but also gained a deeper appreciation of their own affiliation and identity. The project also aimed to strengthen the ICT skills of both students and teachers. For teachers, the project was aimed at offering the opportunity to gain insight into different educational systems and reflect on their own teaching practices and share experiences.
