While implementing the project, we primarily aimed to ensure that students at partner schools embrace the principles of a healthy lifestyle. We aimed to achieve a real change in students' and parents' approach to the broad issue of physical and mental health. We aimed to ensure that healthy lifestyles were permanently ingrained in the consciousness of at least 30% of young people and guided their choices. The project's main goal was reinforced by specific objectives, namely, developing healthy eating habits in 40% of students, including: replacing sweets with fruit, eliminating fast food, increasing the level of motivation to undertake physical activity by 30% - showing its various forms and the benefits of practicing sports, reaching for active forms of spending free time by 40% of students from partner schools - team games, playing together in the real world, increasing the level of social inclusion and the sense of belonging to a group of students with special educational needs by 100% - showing students with special educational needs that they can spend time actively together with their peers, improving teamwork skills and increasing self-esteem and self-confidence in 90% of project participants.
The project was a response to problems the partners identified in their schools. Poor eating habits, a reluctance to engage in physical activity, passive spending of free time in virtual reality, isolation from peers, a lack of teamwork skills, and self-esteem issues were all issues identified by the partner schools. Furthermore, social isolation and inactivity among students with disabilities and special educational needs were also noticeable. These phenomena were further perpetuated during the pandemic. Initiatives undertaken by the partner schools did not yield the expected results. The project provided an opportunity to examine the problem from different perspectives, in a broader context. Collaboration among several entities, sharing experiences, and jointly developing solutions offered a chance to solve problems while simultaneously gaining new experiences and skills. Teachers and students were given the opportunity to collaborate in an international team, learn from each other, share their achievements, and implement innovative solutions developed by the international team in their classrooms.
