The main goal of the project was to promote active citizenship by disseminating the idea of sports volunteering. A strong partnership has been established in the three schools. The implementation of the project made students aware that the acquired skills increased their chances of participating in the national and European labor market. This awareness confirmed their belief that participation in the project improved their social competences in the field of linguistic and interpersonal communication, teamwork, and responsibility for performed tasks. The stay abroad showed the students how important language competences are in interpersonal relationships both in and outside the work environment, which influenced their motivation to continue learning foreign languages. Learning about the cultural conditions of the host countries contributed to greater openness to people and the world. The choice of goals was correlated with the requirements specified in the core curriculum. This allowed students to better prepare for exams. Activities carried out as part of the project had a positive impact not only on students, but also on teachers and parents.
Based on research among students and teachers (surveys, interviews with teachers) carried out in partner schools, we received feedback on the need to carry out activities related to improving the awareness of local (school) environments in the field of shaping active attitudes of young people. In each of the schools, a decline in social activity in the field of entrepreneurship and showing civic attitude, as well as a decrease in physical and mental resilience were recorded. According to teachers, the period of distance education, i.e. forced isolation, also contributed to apathy among students. The diagnosis indicated an urgent need for action to prevent deepening deficits among students. Together, a decision was made to find a way to provide positive, good experiences for students that will increase motivation among young people. Sports volunteering has been identified as one of the fastest-growing branches of volunteering nowadays. Moreover, sport uses a universal language, so everyone, no matter what country they come from, can make a valuable contribution to the organization of sports events in local communities.
