The main objective of the project, which was successfully achieved, was to adapt vocational education and training (VET) to labour market needs. In their daily work, both WIR and AESS career counsellors faced a lack of adequate tools and difficulties in adjusting career guidance to the rapidly changing labour market, including new forms and methods of job application and the evolving needs of the target group—NEET youth. The solutions developed within the project made it possible to achieve this objective. The specific objectives achieved included: 1.The development and implementation of the Career eMerge online tool, as well as the establishment of dedicated units within WIR and AESS—the Trainers’ School—within which a mentoring programme was developed. Career counsellors from both institutions worked in small transnational teams on the mentoring programme. 2.The adaptation of career guidance to labour market needs, particularly in the context of equal access and entry for NEET youth. A dynamically changing labour market and transnational cooperation, combined with the exchange of experience, supported the professional development of WIR and AESS career counsellors, which will have a significant long-term impact on NEET youth.
The project responded to the changing realities of vocational education and training (VET) and to the real needs of career counsellors operating in a rapidly evolving labour market. Its objective was to better align VET with labour market demands, generating multidimensional benefits such as the activation and support of NEET youth, reduction of the risk of unemployment and labour market exclusion, and prevention of gender-related inequalities. In response to these challenges, WIR and AESS introduced innovative solutions by strengthening the competences of career counsellors and equipping them with modern tools for working with NEET youth. The project resulted in the development of an online tool for NEET youth and the “Mentoring Programme for Career Counsellors in the Field of NEET Labour Market Activation,” which improved the daily practice of career guidance and supported the institutional development of both organisations. Dissemination of the results raises awareness of the importance of career guidance, challenges stereotypes, and promotes the Sustainable Development Goals.
