By implementing the project, we wanted to help drive a real change in how entrepreneurs approached sustainability. Our aim was to make sure they didn’t just see green business as a distant concept but understood it as an opportunity they could embrace with the right skills and tools. We wanted to give them practical knowledge and clear examples so they could feel confident in adapting their businesses to meet the demands of a sustainable and circular economy.. We also hoped to fill the gap in training and resources. Many entrepreneurs across Europe lacked guidance on how to make their operations more sustainable, which held them back from tapping into growing green markets. Through this project, we wanted to equip them with the technical and operational skills needed to innovate and compete in these emerging sectors. We wanted to support sustainable growth that benefits both local communities and the wider European economy. Within GS4E we implemented a first level research of EU-wide good practices, we identified and got in touch with sustainability business model case studies, and we tested technical resources that will be a strong basis for a future Cooperation Partnership project, with bigger consortium and wider impact.
We applied for the Green Skills for Entrepreneurship project because we recognised the urgent need to support Europe’s shift towards a sustainable and green economy. The European Union faced many challenges in moving to a low-carbon, circular system, which demanded that businesses rethink how they operated. Many entrepreneurs lacked a solid understanding of how economic, social and environmental factors connected, and often did not have the technical or practical skills to make their businesses truly sustainable. That is the reason that we proposed a project that would give them the skills and confidence to innovate and succeed in the emerging green economy. The project clearly matched the EU’s goals of fostering sustainable, inclusive growth, while also addressing important gaps in education and training for entrepreneurs. We worked hard to deliver exactly what we promised. The activities we carried out fully met our initial goals: we provided practical resources, and helped stimulate the green innovation skills and competencies of the target group, that will improve their job opportunities.. Thanks to the project’s strong implementation, these results now stand as a direct response to the needs we identified at the beginning.
