Through this project, we aimed to achieve two main objectives: firstly, to identify and share effective practices for teaching financial literacy in school education, based on research and peer exchange; secondly, to develop students’ financial competences through competence-based learning, encouraging critical thinking, autonomy and responsibility. The project also sought to strengthen the partner organisations’ capacity to apply innovative teaching methods, promote continuous teacher training, and foster an active European network focused on financial education. Ultimately, the project aimed to raise awareness of the importance of financial literacy in building informed and engaged citizenship.
The application for this project resulted from a shared recognition of the lack of financial literacy among secondary school students, particularly those facing economic and social disadvantages. Partner organisations identified the need to foster financial competences from an early stage using innovative, learner-centred approaches. The project aimed to address the shortage of adapted educational content, limited teacher training in financial topics, and the absence of consistent practices in schools. Through this initiative, the goal was to empower educators, develop meaningful learning materials, and promote active citizenship among young people, enhancing their social inclusion and preparation for adult life.
