Objectives

The SUSTAIN-EDU project aimed to strengthen sustainability education within vocational education and training by responding to the need for more environmentally responsible, innovative, and attractive vocational pathways. The project sought to empower young people in VET by equipping them with sustainability knowledge, leadership skills, and practical competences that would enable them to take local action for global sustainability within their vocational sectors. A central objective was the development of the SUSTAIN-EDU Toolkit, designed as a practical resource to support vocational institutions and educators integrating sustainability principles into curricula. Another key objective was to enhance the capacity of vocational educators and trainers through learning, teaching, and training activities, enabling them to adopt innovative methodologies and effectively deliver sustainability-focused education. The project also aimed to foster innovation in VET by introducing contemporary sustainability practices, experiential learning approaches, increase the attractiveness and relevance of vocational education, align it with labour market needs and European sustainability priorities.
