Objectives

Our objective was to promote environmental awareness and reduce the individual carbon footprint by encouraging sustainable behaviors such as waste separation, energy saving, water conservation. We aimed to develop key competences, including increased use of ICT tools and improved foreign language skills, reaching at least A2 level proficiency for participants in mobilities to ensure effective communication and collaboration across cultures. Another important goal was to strengthen democratic participation by motivating individuals to engage in activism, volunteer initiatives, and join NGOs focused on environmental and social issues at both local and international levels. We also wanted to empower participants to take democratic actions that influence policymakers toward more sustainable, equitable, and inclusive decisions. Through these objectives, we sought to create long-term positive impacts on both the environment and society, promoting peaceful coexistence, social cohesion, and resilience in the face of climate change, global conflicts, and the complex challenges of today’s interconnected world. Participants were encouraged to disseminate good practices in their communities, fostering partnerships, promoting lifelong learning

Background

We applied for this project to respond to the urgent global challenges related to climate change, environmental degradation and social inclusion. The project addresses the growing need to reduce individual carbon footprints, promote sustainable and eco-friendly lifestyles, and encourage active citizenship among young people and the wider community. We aimed to support the development of key competences such as digital skills, foreign language proficiency and democratic participation, which are essential for building a responsible and engaged European society. Additionally, we sought to raise awareness about the consequences of war, particularly the war in Ukraine, on both people and the environment, highlighting the interconnectedness of peace, security, and environmental protection. Our project aligns with the European Union’s priorities by fostering environmental responsibility, strengthening social solidarity and promoting European cooperation through collaborative educational initiatives. Through project, we wanted to empower young people to take meaningful action for a more sustainable and peaceful future, using democratic tools and civic engagement to advocate for positive change at the local, national and European levels.
