Objectives

The project aimed to enhance the quality of mathematics education by promoting the effective use of GeoGebra as an innovative digital learning tool. Key objectives included strengthening students’ understanding of mathematical concepts, increasing motivation and engagement, and fostering analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. The project also sought to demonstrate the interdisciplinary relevance of mathematics by connecting it with vocational contexts, sustainability themes, and creative applications. Another objective was to strengthen digital competences among both students and teachers. At partnership level, the project aimed to foster European cooperation, encourage intercultural exchange, and support the development of collaborative learning environments. Additionally, the initiative contributed to enhancing teachers’ pedagogical competences through knowledge sharing and methodological exchange.

Background

The project was developed in response to identified challenges in mathematics education, particularly related to student motivation, engagement, and understanding of abstract mathematical concepts. Partner institutions observed that many students perceived mathematics as difficult, disconnected from real life, and lacking practical relevance. At the same time, teachers recognised the need for more innovative, technology-supported pedagogical approaches. The project addressed the need to strengthen students’ mathematical competences, foster critical thinking, and improve attitudes towards mathematics. Additionally, the partnership aimed to enhance teachers’ capacity to integrate digital tools into instructional practices. By promoting the use of GeoGebra as an interactive learning tool, the project responded to both pedagogical and institutional needs, supporting modernisation of teaching methods, increased learner engagement, and stronger connections between mathematics, technology, creativity, and real-world applications.
