To develop the writing, research, and editorial skills of young journalists and musicians interested in covering music and culture; To create a cross-border community of music journalists between Romania and Hungary, encouraging mutual learning and long-term collaboration; To raise awareness about the value of high-quality music journalism and cultural media, through the creation and dissemination of a professional methodology and the development of an open-access online platform for publishing music-related content.
We applied for this project in response to a pressing need for better quality, visibility, and professional training in the field of music journalism, particularly in Romania and Central-Eastern Europe. The media landscape offers limited space for cultural reporting, and young journalists or musicians interested in writing often lack structured guidance, mentorship, or publishing platforms. Additionally, music as a cultural sector is underrepresented in the press, and critical discourse is often absent or superficial. We saw an opportunity to address this by creating a structured, transnational programme that develops skills, fosters community, and builds tools for long-term professionalisation in cultural journalism.
