Objectives

By implementing the project, we wanted to motivate and enable students and adults to spend more time outside, playing traditional children's games and less in front of the screen. We reached this goal by fulfilling a number of specific goals. The key points we wanted to activate were improvement of students' physical activity, their dexterity, better development of social skills, communication and empathy, tolerance, concentration, resourcefulness, verbal and physical skills, self-confidence, fair play, acceptance of defeat, respect for diversity, respect for opponents, cheering culture. By making equipment and polygons, students developed fine motor skills that were neglected by using new technologies; working on a digital book they developed the skill of teamwork with a mutual product at the end; by game tournaments they improved their physical dexterity and strength, and at the same time worked on soft skills. During the implementation of the project activities, they simultaneously represented their own culture and tradition, and at the same time got to know the culture and tradition of other nations. Shortly, by participating in the games, the students worked simultaneously on their physical and spiritual development.

Background

Working with children, we noticed that they spend less and less time outside, playing, and much more time in front of the screen, which negatively affects their psycho-physical growth and development. We wanted, with a project like this, to make them interested in outdoor physical activities, and at the same time awaken and encourage a series of skills in them such as cooperation, empathy, mutual respect, tolerance, nurturing and promoting their own and other people's traditions. The common needs of all partners were the development of competence for interculturality, communication and cooperation with other institutions aimed at training and learning from examples of good practice. Participating in this project, we improved civic European values, the principles of a democratic society, respect, appreciation, and acceptance of diversity. Some of the research in school showed that improper physical posture with students occurs due to lack of physical activity. Activities in the project directly respond to this need. Disrupted value system in society, attitude towards education, insufficiently planned creative work in teaching are some of the needs of partner organizations that have been improved by the realization of this project.
