Objectives

Our general aim for realizing our project, which we named as Healthy Lives, Happy Tomorrows, is to develop new skills related to healthy lifestyle in young people. Obesity is a chronic disease caused by the fact that the energy taken into the body with food is more than the energy consumed and explained by the increase in body fat mass compared to the total body mass. The World Health Organization has recognized obesity as one of the 10 most risky diseases. In addition, recent studies conducted by WHO have determined that obesity is closely related to cancer. According to the research conducted by WHO in 51 countries in 2018, the average obesity rate in the world was determined as 23.33%. While there is a similar average in Europe, it was determined as 32.10% in our country and in this sense, it stood out as the highest obesity rate in Europe. “Physical Activity Strategy 2016-2025 for the European Region” has been developed by WHO in order to reduce obesity. A "White Paper" including the strategy on nutrition, food safety, overweight and obesity-related diseases in Europe was prepared by the European Commission and the European Union "Nutrition, Physical Activity and Health Platform" was established. Our aim to implement this project is to highlight the activities of 'healthy diet and exercise', which are two simple formulas of preventing obesity. As young people, we will take responsibility for the prevention of obesity with the activities we will do for this purpose. With our project, we will indirectly support the parallel work of WHO and its relevant institutions in partner countries. In this sense, our project will also contribute positively to its participants. They will gain self-confidence and leadership by taking responsibility in activities, recognizing foods from different cultures, discovering the nutritional values of the foods we consume and their relations with health, developing exercise habits, expressing themselves more easily, providing language development, recognizing different cultures and developing attitudes towards social problems. In this sense, our project will include innovative approaches to the need to produce and spread alternatives for a healthy life in the fight against obesity. With our project, we aim to contribute to the obesity-related goals of the EU, member countries and our country. These goals are: - To promote physical activity among all young people in order to support healthy development with alternative approaches according to different needs encourage. - To motivate young people about healthy, natural and correct nutrition and to enable them to develop habits. - To encourage intercultural dialogue and healthy eating through gastronomy. - To research and share the old and natural eating habits of partner countries. - To make body mass index measurements and to compare the energy and vitamin values in foods. -To analyze the natural foods of the past and the foods that have been directly or indirectly interfered with (GMO) today. -Sharing organic and healthy traditional dishes from different cultures. -To encourage exercise by sharing health walks and traditional games. - To strengthen the perception of healthy life among the participants and the people of the region with the cultural meal day to be held. - To further the cooperation between the Erasmus+ projects and the participants and to promote the youthpass certificate. -Cultural shares. - To draw the attention of decision-making institutions to obesity problems. Each partner will visit the local municipality after the project and share the project outputs.
