Objectives

The project “Green Participation, Green Europe” was designed to raise environmental awareness, strengthen youth participation, and create a collective European momentum to combat climate change and ecological degradation. From the outset, it aimed to move beyond knowledge transfer and instead create a transformative learning experience for young people. The main purpose was to build an environment where youth could understand challenges such as climate change, biodiversity loss, pollution, and fossil fuel dependency, while also learning how to take active responsibility in addressing them. One of the key objectives was to empower young people with knowledge and awareness of environmental issues. The project highlighted that climate change is not a distant phenomenon but an urgent crisis already affecting ecosystems and societies. Activities were structured around themes such as climate change, biodiversity, renewable energy, recycling, sustainable food, and green alternatives. This helped participants develop a comprehensive understanding of how these issues are interconnected and how global problems are reflected in local realities. The project also placed strong emphasis on youth participation as a foundation of democratic and sustainable societies. By bringing together young people from nine countries, it fostered cooperation, cultural exchange, and solidarity. Participants took active roles in discussions, presentations, and dissemination, strengthening their ability to contribute to community initiatives and policy debates. The underlying belief was that empowered youth can be decisive actors in the implementation of the European Green Deal and the EU Youth Strategy. Another important objective was to provide participants with concrete skills to move from awareness to action. Hands-on activities such as the bio-plastic workshop or the microalgae sessions showed that sustainability can be integrated into daily life through practical innovation. These creative experiences equipped participants with methods to reduce plastic use, adopt greener diets, promote renewable energy, and support sustainable mobility. From the beginning, dissemination and visibility were central aims. Social media, local networks, and institutional channels were used to promote the project’s outcomes, share testimonials, and inspire wider communities. Each partner ensured local dissemination, creating a multiplier effect so that knowledge and skills reached peers and stakeholders beyond direct participants. Ultimately, the project’s objectives can be summarized as preparing a generation of young people who are both aware and capable of leading Europe towards a greener future. By aligning its activities with the European Green Deal and the EU Youth Strategy, it ensured that goals were part of a wider European vision. Each event, whether a seminar or an international mobility, helped build the competencies, networks, and motivation needed for youth to act as agents of change. Through these objectives, the project demonstrated that education, participation, and cooperation are powerful tools for responding to global challenges. It showed that young people are ready to contribute to climate action when given the space, knowledge, and support. The vision was not only to raise awareness in the present but also to invest in the long-term capacities of European youth to safeguard the planet for future generations.
