Objectives

The main objective of the project was to educate families of children with special needs through sports and physical activity and to encourage social inclusion and active participation of families in this area. We wanted to raise awareness among families, educators and communities about the benefits of inclusive sports. We aimed to develop the capacity of institutions and individuals by developing practical tools such as the Family Education Kit and providing targeted trainings for educators and coaches. Another important objective was to strengthen cooperation between local and international stakeholders, share best practices and establish sustainable networks for future collaborations. The project aimed to empower families by providing them with resources and knowledge to support their children’s development. Overall, we tried to create a positive and lasting impact on both families, educators and institutions in the field of inclusive education and sports.

Background

We applied for this project to address the lack of inclusive physical activity and sports programs for children with special needs. In our local context, families and educators often lack the knowledge and tools to support the participation of these children in physical activities. This results in limited social inclusion, lower self-esteem, and missed developmental opportunities for the children. Additionally, institutions showed a need for capacity-building in inclusive education and cross-sectoral collaboration. By partnering with experienced international organizations, we aimed to develop innovative tools, training modules, and awareness activities to empower educators, families, and children. The project focused on increasing social inclusion, strengthening inter-institutional cooperation, and providing practical support through structured and accessible educational content.
