Our project aimed to give young people in Upper Austria a deeper understanding of and interest in the European institutions and European democracy. This was to be achieved through direct interaction and practical experience, as these approaches have been proven to be more effective than purely theoretical teaching. The main objectives of the project were: Civic education and active participation: We wanted to give young people the opportunity to interact directly with EU decision-makers in order to deepen their political education and motivate them to actively participate in European democracy. This was particularly encouraged by the trip to Brussels and the panel discussion on the EU elections. European identity and intercultural dialog: Another aim was to strengthen awareness and a sense of belonging to the European Union. By visiting European institutions and engaging directly with EU representatives, young people were able to experience Europe as a tangible and relevant concept. Combating disinformation and promoting digital skills: With our video series, we not only wanted to inform young people about the EU and democratic processes, but also provide them with tools to recognize and combat misinformation. This should strengthen their digital skills and help them to find their way in the modern information society. Promoting inclusion and equal opportunities: Our project aimed to include all young people, regardless of their social or economic situation, and offer them equal opportunities to participate. This was achieved by making the video content widely available and targeting disadvantaged groups. By implementing the project, we wanted to create a platform that would enable young people in Upper Austria to obtain comprehensive information about the EU, get actively involved and help shape their own future in the European Union.
