The project is “Mobility of Young people” It is one of the key projects of the town twinning association Linden groet-grüβt-salue-saluda Linden. This is one of the few voluntary organisations that operates across borders in six European countries. These six municipalities are Linden-Cuijk (NL), Linden-Lubbeek (B), Linden- Holstein (D), Lalinde (F), Linden-Sankt Georgen am Walde (A) and Lalin (E). The Youth Meeting has been organised every year since 1982, each year in a different country. The objective of the project is to enhance the bond between the twinning towns and especially between the young people of these twinning towns. Young people aged 15 to 20 with a variety of social and cultural backgrounds (both boys and girls) participate. Each twinning municipality sends 8 to 10 young people and 1 or 2 supervisors. The youth meeting lasts 10 days and the young people of the organizing municipality chose a theme around which the young people of these municipalities communicate in the months prior to the activity and after the youth meeting. The objectives of the project are to enrich knowledge/ insights through informing visits and challenging workshops, express ideas and enrich knowledge of foreign languages, take initiative, expand social aptitudes/vision and appreciate other cultures/ habits.
