Objectives

The main objectives of the training course “The power of mental well-being in youth work”, organized by JOETZ (BE), revolve around enhancing the skills and knowledge of youth workers in creating safer and inclusive spaces for young people, focusing on mental well-being. The project aims to empower youth workers with tools and strategies to facilitate open conversations about mental health/well-being, thereby fostering a supportive environment for personal development among young people. Additionally, the project seeks to reinforce the importance of self-care for youth workers, acknowledging the crucial role they play in the lives of young people. The overall goal is to equip youth workers with the necessary competencies to address mental health/well-being concerns, maintain professional boundaries and make appropriate referrals when necessary. Through a structured training course, the project aspires to instill a sense of confidence and enthusiasm in youth workers, positively impacting the well-being of young people they work with/ organize activities for. By promoting the exchange of knowledge on an international level, the project aims to contribute to the development of youth work practices across Europe, fostering a culture of inclusivity and well-being. The expected outcome is a cohort of skilled and motivated youth workers who act as multipliers, disseminating knowledge and implementing best practices within their respective youth work organizations. Through this cascading effect, the project seeks to have a lasting impact on youth work practices at local, regional, national and even European levels, promoting the creation of safer and more inclusive spaces for young people to thrive.
