Environment and climate change

Objectives

The world nowadays is increasingly under pressure. Climate changes are threatening the existence of humans and other organisms that walk this planet. Possible solutions exist and they are reflected in the sustainable development and application of the circular economy. The development of a circular economy is seen as key to improving the environment and creating positive societal change. In 2015 the European Commission adopted an action plan to help accelerate Europe’s transition towards a circular economy, boost global competitiveness, promote sustainable economic growth, and generate new jobs. Circular Economy aims at lowering our impact on the environment, but it also fosters more cooperation, more solidarity and more activity at local level. The project aimed to enhance green business culture in Europe by equipping youth with knowledge and concepts in the field of the circular economy. The objectives of the project were: To raise participants' awareness of circular economy principles by sharing tools, knowledge, and competencies to help them promote circular economy practices in their local communities. To increase understanding of the circular economy and its advantages over the traditional linear economy for a more sustainable future in the EU. To equip youth workers with knowledge and insights into EU circular economy policies and best practices. To promote waste prevention and introduce innovative waste recovery methods. To empower youth workers to engage young people and advocate for a greener environment by following circular economy principles. To educate youth workers on key concepts of sustainability and circular economy. To strengthen the capacity of youth organizations to guide and support young people in exploring circular economy opportunities, entrepreneurship, and innovation.
