Objectives

The primary aim of the project was to empower youth workers with the knowledge and skills needed to use sports and physical activity as effective tools for promoting the active participation and inclusion of young people, particularly those with fewer opportunities. The project sought to advocate for the concepts of "sports for all" and a "healthy lifestyle" within youth work practices, emphasizing their importance in fostering holistic well-being. A significant focus of the initiative was to address the inclusion of young people with fewer opportunities by sharing experiences and best practices for engaging them in youth work programs and community activities. The project emphasized the importance of understanding and internalizing the fundamental principles of inclusion and teamwork, recognizing their critical role in effective youth work. It also explored how youth work and training programs intersect with the concepts of inclusion and sports, highlighting their potential to foster acceptance and diversity. Developing the competencies of youth workers was a key objective. The project aimed to equip participants with skills to organize impactful programs using sports methodologies that promote physical and mental development while also fostering competition and teamwork. A platform was created for the exchange of sport-based approaches, encouraging the integration of these methods into everyday youth work practices. Additionally, the project addressed the challenges of implementing sports methodologies for inclusion and intercultural acceptance, fostering discussions on overcoming these obstacles. Adapting sports methods for non-formal education and youth work was another critical element of the project, with a focus on enhancing inclusion and acceptance of young people with fewer opportunities. Participants collaboratively developed foundational plans for local and national workshops that would use sports as a means to promote inclusion during the follow-up phase of the training. Finally, the project sought to establish a community of youth trainers and workers committed to using sports in youth work to enhance inclusion and development. By achieving these objectives, the project aimed to improve the physical, social, and psychological well-being of young people, equipping them with life skills such as confidence, resilience, and teamwork through the transformative power of sports and physical activities.
