The main objective of the “Our Language is Sport” Youth Exchange was to use sport as a universal language to promote social inclusion, personal development, intercultural learning, and healthy lifestyles among young people from diverse backgrounds. We aimed to demonstrate how sport and physical activity can foster personal growth, break down barriers, and develop essential life skills such as teamwork, communication, and leadership. We were particularly committed to creating an inclusive and empowering environment for participants with fewer opportunities – those facing economic, geographical, or social challenges. Through a wide range of non-formal learning activities, we promoted European values of equality, respect, and active citizenship. Key objectives: Promoting Active Lifestyles - Encouraging young people to be physically active beyond the exchange itself, aligned with the European Week of Sport’s #BeActive campaign. We addressed the growing issue of youth inactivity and helped participants recognize the value of balance between digital consumption and physical health. Fostering Inclusion and Breaking Stereotypes - By sharing real-life stories (like Jamila’s journey in martial arts), we inspired participants to overcome gender-based and cultural stereotypes in sport. We ensured that everyone, regardless of background, felt welcomed, safe, and seen. Developing Life Skills through Sport - Participants took part in team sports, outdoor challenges, and creative workshops designed to build teamwork, problem-solving, responsibility, and self-confidence—essential competencies for employability and community leadership. Encouraging Youth Empowerment and Community Engagement - Participants were guided to reflect on how they could transfer their learning into real action at home—organizing local activities, promoting healthy living, and becoming active changemakers. Strengthening Erasmus+ Awareness and International Collaboration - We introduced the Erasmus+ programme to newcomers, building understanding of European opportunities in mobility, volunteering, and training. The exchange also deepened partnerships between the eight participating organizations, especially benefiting less experienced partners. By implementing this Youth Exchange, we showed that sport is much more than physical activity—it is a powerful tool for social transformation, empowerment, and European identity. Our goal was not only to run a successful exchange but to spark long-term impact in participants lives and communities.
