Objectives

Escape Fake News 2.0 was designed as an innovative, second-edition project following a successful pilot in 2022. Its main objective was to empower youth workers from diverse cultural and geographical backgrounds to better understand and address the growing threats of disinformation, fake news, conspiracy theories, and media manipulation — especially in the context of digital transformation and youth vulnerability to online narratives. By enhancing their competences in media literacy and critical thinking, we aimed to equip them with practical tools such as educational games, AI-supported workshop formats, fact-checking activities, and gamified learning scenarios, they could use in their daily youth work to help young people become more resilient, better informed, and more active citizens. The project aimed to result in four original educational games, a set of tested workshop methodologies, and a stronger international network of trained youth workers who could transfer the knowledge to their local communities.
